Connor Addison’s Cubist Paintings

Connor Addison depicts figures through cubist paintings while exploring feelings of love. I think Addison’s use of simple shapes to represent the figures is very interesting as he only uses 2-dimensional shapes, but through shading is able to make the figure appear 3-dimensional. The use of geometric shapes to represent an organic shape is also quite effective as it partially abstracts the figures, putting more emphasis on the emotions communicated rather than the actual person. This reminded me of the way we have been using simple shapes in our projects to build more complex abstract images.
