Behind the scenes: Laika Studios

One of my favorite forms of animation is stop-motion. I am just so intrigued on how small manipulations and a whole ton of frames can act as a conduit for some of the most vivid and concrete storytelling there is to offer. Laika, a local studio (for me) has always been a point of Portland pride but ever since watching Coraline, I have been obsessed with their stories and the physicality of the visuals they use to convey them. Getting a behind-the-scenes look not only opened my eyes into how much work goes into each film, but also just how detailed and carefully constructed each set and set piece is.
