Blackout Poetry

As I am slowly working through an assignment for another class, I am reminded of blackout poetry. The assignment at hand: to cut out 20-25% of a play that we are reading for class. I have a printed out version of the play and have been blacking out lines with a Sharpie. I immediately thought about blackout poetry and how people use found (existing) material to make their own work by blacking out (removing) words that they don’t want to use in their piece. This method can create interesting visuals that pair well with the text to create new meaning.
