Not specifically related to this class, but I feel like I have to share this for those who don’t know about it. Essentially, Folding@Home is a protein-folding computing project that lets anyone contribute their spare computing power by just downloading a program and running it in the background. Historically they’ve worked on Ebola and Cancer among other things, but in light of recent events they’re focusing on COVID-19 research. Please consider downloading the program, especially if you have a powerful computer. It’s a really easy way to support scientists’ efforts to combat this pandemic.
So many people have downloaded the program, in fact, that Folding@Home has not only become the world’s fastest supercomputer, but it’s also more powerful than the next 7 fastest supercomputers combined.
