Embroidery + Programming?

on

This week I’ve read about Lady Ada Lovelace, who is considered by some to be the first programmer. This challenged my thinking as how many angels of algorithmic thinking is embedded in embroidery and how much this trade has a potential to teach foundations of programming. When reading further about e-textiles in maker movement, I was surprised how this approach of ‘low tech’ can be very accessible to teach computational thinking at schools and also can address gender gap in STEM eeducation as well.
