Going Fishing
I found this stop motion video, “Going Fishing”, on a YouTube channel called Guldies. It is so smooth and well done. I especially love the way he uses clay to mimic water. This video reminded me of the Tiny Monuments project because he made it in his bedroom on his desk, like I did!
Quaranzine
The Arlington Public Library in Virginia published the first issue of their “Quaranzine” last week. A zine is a collection of artistic works done by one person or a small group of people. Quaranzine is the library’s way of building community and documenting peoples’ responses to our current situation. New issues will come out every…
Penn in Minecraft
A group of Penn students have been painstakingly recreating campus in Minecraft for the past couple of weeks. Take a look at the screenshots in this article – I’m really amazed at what they’ve been able to accomplish. Everything is even to scale! https://www.businessinsider.com/upenn-students-recreate-campus-in-minecraft-to-host-virtual-events-2020-4?fbclid=IwAR0ru6g2G5US9pubypldhlf5c-qVdZIZfByEUNwjfHohWqkpGDFepHU8RcY
Recreating Art at Home
The Getty recently challenged its Twitter followers to recreate their favorite fine art using only what they have in their homes. I think it’s a fun way to make the best of this weird quarantine situation. https://mashable.com/article/getty-museum-recreate-art-challenge-social-distancing/
Lim Heng Swee
I just found this artist, Lim Heng Swee (I Love Doodle), who has a series of cat landscapes. I love the colors and the minimalist graphic style, and how you sometimes have to stare at a piece for a few seconds before you see the cat. https://www.ilovedoodle.com/
Stop Motion Parkour
I randomly found this YouTube video made by Corridor Digital. They use stop motion to create a fight scene on a human scale.
The Good Stuff
My partner and I found this video last night while we were choreographing. I love how they use color so precisely so that the people dancing together are either complementary or contrasting. Their formations are striking!
This Cat is Assembled Incorrectly
I saw this silly picture on a cat Facebook page and it reminded me of Project 1.2. Enjoy.
Hellzapoppin’
The movie Hellzapoppin’ has within it one of the most iconic Lindy Hop routines ever filmed. Because it is from 1941, it was filmed in black and white, but it was recently colorized thanks to a program that seems very similar to the one that transformed the Lumière Brothers’ train footage into HD. The colorized…
